You don’t have to be a Reiki practitioner to do this meditation.

In this guided meditation, you’ll become aware of your energy field and how you can affect it through meditation.

We’ll focus on your hara, which is sometimes called the tanden or Dan Tien. In Japanese, the hara is your soft belly. It’s considered to be the energy center in Reiki.

You’ll find a comfortable seat or position in which to be comfortable for 10 minutes (you can even lie down if needed). Wherever you place your hands, have them open and facing up. This is a gesture that means you’re open and accepting of what may come.

This will be a simple process of visualizing energy coming in through your hara, or belly, and out of it.

It’s a lighter version of the Joshin Kokyu Ho meditation in the Shoden, or Eastern tradition of Reiki.

The meditation is a total of 17:37 long:

  • I talk until 2:27
  • The meditation, backed by soothing music, goes from then until 12:16.
  • It’s followed by music only for 5 more minutes so you can stay in your relaxed place if you like.
