I was tired, frustrated, and felt like I was going to snap Friday night. After two weeks without HVAC—which was very hot and stuffy—we finally got some AC again! Then I realized only 2/3 of my vents work, so this isn't over. 🙄 So you know what I did?
Radical self-care, of course!
I asked myself what I really needed. No, it wasn't Tiffany jewelry, a box of puppies, and a baseball game. No, it wasn't a salt bath and chocolate cake. All of that sounds good but it's not great self-care. Neither is it radical. (Though baseball and basketball games DO put me in a better mood).
I cleaned the house for self-care. (Two weeks of having 5 fans blow dust around was more than enough for me).
I returned to my Ayurveda practice—which is kind of embarrassing to practice when you have workers coming in and out of your house constantly. Like, "Hi, guys, don't mind me with this Neti pot up my nose!" So I stopped. I like my privacy to do my "weird" yoga things!
Remember, it's a practice, not a perfect!
I practiced self-Reiki and did 10 whole minutes of yoga, the latter of which made me realize my body was tired and it was time to go to bed already.
Sometimes, it's OK that self-care is boring. Sometimes, self-care is merely doing the laundry. Other times, it's paying bills. Yes, it can be the mani/pedi and massage. Honestly? If I'd shirked my responsibilities (body care, cleaning the house) Friday night to go get a massage, I would have felt more stressed and overwhelmed.
Today, as I write this, it's Sunday. I've practiced self-Reiki, meditated 3 times, bought cat food for my little gremlins, and enjoyed a juicy hour of much-needed yoga practice. Next, I'm having a gluten-free pizza and watching some basketball.
I feel better, I'm less likely to cuss someone out in traffic, and it's time to see who's headed to the NBA finals... I'm feeling hydrated and nourished heading into Holy Week. It's an auspicious time to connect to The Divine no matter what traditions(s) one follows.
And once we get through that...Mercury will go retrograde 😉
While TikTok is Still Around, I'm Diving In To Share My Knowledge
The TikTok community is like no other. When it's stacked up against Instagram or YouTube Shorts—it's TikTok by a mile for more likes, follows, and comments. There's just more interaction overall. The goal here is to grow Destiny Architecture into a community that's both online and in-person. So far, it seems like TikTok is a bit more community-oriented.
This week, I did a series about stress and going beyond our capacity—because I certainly hit mine during the final two weeks of March. This was something I'd never learned growing up! That we have a capacity and when we go beyond it in terms of being overwhelmed with more stress than we can handle—that's where the damage begins.
Being kind to one's nervous system is very important!
Here's one of the videos I made on TikTok about it:

I've been an ASMR fan for years. Here are some samples of what it is and explanations about what it does to the brain. Yes, I find it weird and relaxing at the same time. I do get tingles! I know some of my triggers, such as tapping or personal care (like the sounds of shampoo bubbles popping and fizzing while someone gets a shampoo/head massage).
